DEVELOPMENTS NORTH OF DUNDAS

The New Communities of Oakville are located just north of Dundas Street (Regional Road 5), south of Highway 407, east of Tremaine Road and west of Ninth Line. The New Communities of Oakville will be home to 50,000 people. They will also create employment opportunities for nearly 35,000 people, which will reduce the need for commuting. “We have created a comprehensive, balanced and sustainable plan that will help create one of Canada’s most green and livable communities,” says Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. Mayor Burton believes North Oakville development will contribute greatly to Oakville’s stated vision of becoming the most livable in Canada. The Natural Heritage System, which runs through the New Communities of Oakville, is made up of about 900 hectares of protected land and reflects the commitment of landowners, the town and Conservation Halton to protect and enhance the natural environment. The neighbourhoods will be walkable and transit-friendly. The integration of a network of natural and open spaces with vital neighbourhood centres will create a more livable, compact urban community with a greater mix of housing and employment opportunities. The development of North Oakville is expected to take approximately 25 years to complete.
